Fort Collins countertops for the homes you live in and the ones you rent out
Northern Colorado
Service area: Northern Colorado
Counter Top Sales installs kitchen, bathroom and wet bar countertops in Fort Collins, in granite, quartz, marble, quartzite and soapstone. Fort Collins is the northern end of the Front Range area we cover from our Denver base, and we make the trip for consultations, free in-home measurements and installation.
The city has a bit of everything. Older homes near Old Town and Colorado State University, plenty of rentals, and newer neighborhoods growing east and south. An owner remodeling a forever kitchen and a landlord turning over a unit want very different things from a countertop, so we start by asking which one you are.

We fabricate and install islands, perimeter counters and breakfast bars, plus bathroom vanity tops and wet bar tops. Every project starts with a templated measurement of your installed cabinets, so each piece is cut for your room.
Owner-occupied homes and rentals need different stone
There's no single best countertop. There's the best one for who's using it.
If you live there
You can choose for looks and accept some upkeep. Marble on a vanity or baking station, quartzite on an island, soapstone in an older kitchen with character. You'll know how to treat them, and you'll notice the small changes before they become problems.
If you rent it out
Pick for the tenant you haven't met. Quartz is non-porous and never needs sealing, so it forgives people who don't read care instructions. Granite is the other strong option, with better heat resistance, though it does need resealing now and then. Skip marble in rental kitchens. Etching from a single spilled glass of wine is permanent without professional refinishing.
What the Fort Collins climate means for your counters
Fort Collins sits at roughly 5,000 feet, just east of the foothills and Horsetooth Reservoir. The air is dry, the sun is strong and winter brings hard freezes. Indoors, natural stone handles all of it. Two situations need more thought.
- Sunny windows: the resin in quartz can fade or shift color with years of strong direct sun, and UV is stronger at altitude. Use granite or quartzite where the counter bakes in afternoon light.
- Outdoor bars: freeze-thaw cycles can damage porous stone that soaks up water. Choose a dense granite, keep it sealed and cover it in winter. Quartz isn't rated for outdoor use by most manufacturers.
- Hot pans: granite tolerates heat well. Quartz can scorch or discolor, so use trivets.

Do you serve Windsor?
Yes. Windsor is in our service area, with the same free estimate, in-home measurement and quote within 24 hours.
What countertop is best for a rental near CSU?
Quartz is usually the easiest for rentals because it never needs sealing and resists stains. Granite is a close second and handles heat better. We'd steer you away from marble in a rental kitchen.
Do I need to seal granite in Fort Collins' dry climate?
Yes. Low humidity doesn't change how granite absorbs liquids and oils. Most granites benefit from periodic sealing, and the water-drop test tells you when.
How much do new countertops cost in Fort Collins?
Price depends on material, square footage, seams, cutouts, edge profile and tear-out. Our estimate form's budget bands start at $1,000 to $3,500 and reach $20,000 and beyond, so the range is wide. Request a free estimate for a quote within 24 hours.
