Service area: Boulder County
Counter Top Sales measures, fabricates and installs granite, marble, quartz, quartzite and soapstone countertops in Boulder, for kitchens, bathroom vanities and wet bars. We're based in Denver, a short drive down US 36, and we come to you for the consultation, the free in-home measurement and the install.
Boulder kitchens tend to fall into two camps. There are older houses where the kitchen is finally being opened up, and newer or rebuilt homes with big glass walls facing the Flatirons. Stone works in both, just not the same stone. The choice usually comes down to sunlight, use and upkeep.

What we install in Boulder homes
Plenty of Boulder projects involve more than one room. A kitchen remodel often pulls a bathroom along with it, and a finished basement usually wants a bar top. You can bring all of it to one consultation.
- Kitchen islands, including one-piece tops when a single slab covers the run
- Perimeter counters that turn corners and meet the range, sink and dishwasher
- Breakfast bars, flush with the counter or raised to bar height
- Bathroom vanity tops, from a single sink to a long double vanity
- Wet bars in basements, family rooms and home offices
Boulder's altitude and sun change the quartz conversation
Boulder sits at roughly 5,300 feet. At that elevation there's less atmosphere filtering sunlight, so UV exposure runs noticeably higher than at sea level. Most of the time, indoors, that doesn't matter. Near a big south or west window, it can.
Quartz under a sunny window
Quartz is crushed stone held together with a polymer resin. That resin is why quartz is non-porous and easy to live with, and it's also why most quartz makers warn against long stretches of direct sun. Over years, strong UV can fade or warm the exposed area until it no longer matches the section in shade. If your island catches that light, we'll talk through granite or quartzite, or quartz paired with shades.
Dry air is easy on stone
Boulder's semi-arid climate is hard on wood. Butcher block shrinks and can check when indoor air gets dry in winter. Granite, marble, quartzite, soapstone and quartz don't care about humidity, which is one reason stone holds up so well here.
Picking stone for older remodels and newer builds
Older houses rarely have square walls, so we template the cabinets in place and cut the stone to the room you have. Honed marble and soapstone suit these kitchens well. Both wear in over time, and plenty of owners like that look. Marble will etch from lemon juice, wine and vinegar, so it's a fit for people who accept a patina.
Newer Boulder homes often have long runs and big islands where consistency matters. Quartz gives you an even pattern from one end to the other. Quartzite gives you the look of marble with much better scratch resistance, though it's worth testing a sample, since some stones sold under that name behave more like marble.

Countertop questions from Boulder
Do you install countertops in Boulder?
Yes. We're based in Denver and serve Boulder directly, including free in-home measurement, for kitchens, bathrooms and wet bars.
Is quartz a good choice for a Boulder kitchen with a lot of windows?
Yes, if the counter isn't in strong direct sun for hours a day. Quartz resin can fade or shift with long UV exposure. For sunny spots, granite and quartzite are safer bets.
How much do countertops cost in Boulder?
It depends on the material, the total square footage, the number of seams and cutouts, the edge profile and whether old tops need to come out. The budget bands on our estimate form start at $1,000 to $3,500 and go up to $20,000 and beyond, which shows how wide the spread is. A free estimate gives you a real number within 24 hours.
Can I put marble in a Boulder kitchen I actually cook in?
Yes, if you're comfortable with it changing. Marble etches from acids and can scratch, and a honed finish hides that wear better than polished. If you want the look with less upkeep, ask us about quartzite or a marble-look quartz.
